Released July 7th in North America, the 12th edition of Royal Doulton Figurines contains the highest number of pages of any collectable book published by The Charlton Press.

With only 15 months between the 10th and 11th editions, the indications were such that the collectable market was holding, but soon after the release of the 11th edition the market slowed. It is now almost three years later that the 12th edition has now been released.

Over this period of time a lot has happened in the Doulton world.

Thirty new series have been introduced since the 11th edition, a rather high number by any standards. Some of the more notable are: Butterfly Ladies, Window Seasons Collection, Pioneers, Balloon Clowns, Family and Friends, plus three 'monthly' series, Gemstones, Flower of the Month and Signs of the Zodiac, and a festive series Holiday Traditions.

Two new Prestige figures have been introduced for 2009, the Samurai Warrior and Knight of the Crusades.

New releases, discontinuation dates and up-to-date pricing have been revised for 2009, resulting in the most current edition of Royal Doulton Figurines that every collector must have.">

A Century of Royal Doulton Character & Toby Jugs - "A Century of ROYAL DOULTON Character and Toby Jugs" by Stephen M. Mullins and David C. Fastenau, with an introduction by Royal Doulton authority Louise Irvine.

This new reference book, A Century of Royal Doulton Character and Toby Jugs, is the most comprehensive book ever published on collecting jugs and derivatives. At more than 450 pages, the book is lavishly illustrated with over 1,600 color photographs of every Royal Doulton production jug as well as more than 100 prototypes, many of which have never been seen before by collectors.

With an introduction by world-renowned Royal Doulton authority, Louise Irvine, the scope, details and pictorial abundance set this book apart from any other reference book on Royal Doulton jugs.

Four major sections provide, in alphabetical order by character, a large color photograph of each character in all of its sizes; a biographical or historical profile including size, modeler and model number; and production history. Photographs of backstamps, trial colorways, and close-ups of intricate handles. Protoype jugs that never made it into production are given similar treatment throughout the book. A substantial Appendix provides lists and tables to help readers navigate through the sizes, types, backstamps, modelers, model numbers, etc. and pre-prototype clay models.

Steve Mullins started collecting Royal Doulton character jugs more than 60 years ago. Today his collection includes over 6,500 items from around the world. David Fastenau's passion for collecting character and toby jugs was spurred when he inherited a small collection of Royal Doulton jugs from his grandmother. Louise Irvine is a lecturer and writer with a special interest in the 19th and 20th century ceramics. She began working for Royal Doulton in 1977 and became their Director of Historical Promotions. She is regarded as one of the foremost authorities on Royal Doulton wares. Mullins, Fastenau and Irvine live in Evanston, Illinois; Northern California and London respectively.
