To celebrate 70 years of marriage is a rare achievement, and on November 20th 2017 Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh will attain this very special platinum anniversary. In commemoration of their anniversary, Royal Doulton has created a limited edition figurine of the couple based on an official photograph taken to mark the Diamond Jubilee of The Queen’s accession to the throne in February 2012.

The photograph was one of several taken by acclaimed photographer John Swannell in the Centre Room, also known as the Balcony Room, at Buckingham Palace. On this occasion, The Queen wore her State Dress, made from white silk, satin and lace and embroidered with silver colored sequins, which was designed by her personal dresser, Angela Kelly. The Duke of Edinburgh was formally dressed in Royal Navy Ceremonial day dress (Admiral of the Fleet) with a Garter Sash.

For this magnificent and prestigious portrait, sculptor, Neil Welch and Royal Doulton’s talented ceramic artists have meticulously recreated the fine details and colors of each costume and of the medals, ceremonial regalia and jewelry that the Queen and the Duke wear.
