Marshal Joseph Joffre, Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front during World War I is depicted in his dark blue military dress uniform, holding an explosive shell inscribed ’75mm Ce que joffre’. Originally produced from 1915 to 1919, these Toby Jugs are considered some of the finest examples ever produced by an English ceramic company.
