Old Salt D6554 – Small – Royal Doulton Character Jug

Old Salt D6554 (dark blue fisherman’s jersey; mermaid has blue tail). Designed by Gary Sharpe, issued 1961 – 2001. Size: 4″H (small)

When the miniature Old Salt jug was launched in 1984, it had a hollow crook in the mermaid’s arm. Later that year, because of production problems, the arm was molded to the body. The first version of the miniature has attained near pilot status and commands a large premium over the general issue.
