This pair of Royal Doulton Stoneware Candlesticks was made in 1879 Doulton Lambeth sculptor John Broad (d. 1919), produced in a green and blue colorway. Broad was noted for his sculpture work in terra cotta, particularly the grand pediment to Harrods in Knightsbridge, the panels and statues for St Bede’s College in Manchester, and the Doulton Fountain exhibited at the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1888.
