General Louis Botha, first Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa and a commander of British forces during the First World War, is depicted sitting down, wearing the dress uniform of a Boer War general, and holding a jug inscribed “LOYALTY.” Originally produced from 1915 to 1919, these Toby Jugs are considered some of the finest examples ever produced by an English ceramic company.
