Royal Doulton’s limited edition Prestige figures exemplify the highest quality, craftsmanship, and artistry in figure making. More than just collectables, Prestige figures are genuine works of art that can take months to create and decorate in detail. Each piece is handmade to order by the Royal Doulton artisans in England. Each limited edition is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, and the moulds are broken once an edition is fully produced.
This dramatic sculpture captures the speed and intensity of the Pony Express hn4842, a delivery mail service that operated between Missouri and California in the 1860s. These riders helped bridge communications between the east and west, with pony riders able to cover 250 miles in a 24-hour day. At its peak, the Pony Express had more than 100 stations, 80 riders, and between 400 and 500 horses. The express route was extremely hazardous, but only one mail delivery was ever lost.
This prestige piece shows a steadfast rider dressed head-to-toe in authentic fringed cowboy clothing, complete with a bandana, hat, holster and gloves. He controls the reigns with one hand, while commanding a riding crop with the other. His handsomely painted brown and white Pinto charges over the prairie terrain at full gallop, tail whipping in the wind. This magnificent piece fully exemplifies the craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Royal Doultons Prestige Collection is renowned.
