As featured in the 1977 Exhibition, “Doulton Pottery, Part II,” a Pair of Impasto Ware Vases with Bats, produced in 1885 by Rosa Keen for Doulton Lambeth. Each vase is decorated in relief with a bat outlined against the moon, with branches of pine cones on a blue ground. Impasto is an ancient style of Etruscan pottery. Impasto earthenware was produced by Royal Doulton (Lambeth works) between 1880 and circa 1914.
