Reflecting the mood of Victorian England, the Flowers of Love Collection has been designed by Royal Doultons celebrated artist, Valerie Annand. Each figure has been inspired by the Victorian language of flowers where every flower expresses a different message. In the Victorian Language of Flowers, camellias conveys a message of perfect loveliness and forget-me-nots one of loving remembrance. The rose signifies gratitude and simplicity while the primrose is associated with young love. Each figure in the collection is presented in elaborate costumes and hats.
Valerie Annand has become one of the most collected designers and modelers at the Royal Doulton Studios. For over 20 years, this self-taught artist has created figures that wear the fashions of late Victorian and Edwardian eras complete with beads and ribbons decorating their flounced skirts and ruffled petticoats.
