Richard Whittington (1358 – 1423), in actual fact, made his fortune as a textile dealer. He entered London politics as a councilman and rose to become the Lord Mayor of London in 1937, an office he held three times. This jug was commissioned by The Guild of Specialist China and Class Retailers and issued in 1989 in a special edition of 5,000 pieces.
