This jug was issued in a limited edition of 2,500 to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the English Civil War in 1642. It is unusual in the sense that it is the first three-handled character jug ever produced by Doulton. On Charles’s left Oliver Cromwell forms the handle, on his right, Queen Henrietta. The third handle, at the King’s back and not seen in the photograph, is a plume.
