Steeped in history and proud of its heritage, Britain has offered Royal Doulton an exciting range of historical figures for their character jug collection. Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) was Britains greatest admiral and war hero. He defeated the combined French and Spanish Fleets at Trafalgar on the coast of Spain in the greatest naval victory in British history. His triumph broke the naval power of France and established Great Britains rule of the seas for the rest of the 19th Century. In 1955 on Trafalgar Day, October 21st this jug was released to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
