Mephistopheles And Marguerite HN775 – Royal Doulton Figurine

“Mephistopheles & Marguerite” is a Royal Doulton double-sided figure designed by Charles Noke, and issued from 1925 to 1949. It depicts the infernal apparition Mephistopheles and the lovely Marguerite, who holds a gilt prayer book and wears an ivory dress detailed in gilt. The figure may have been inspired by the 1928 aquatint etching by the French artist Louis Icart (1880-1950), entitled “Faust: Devil and Woman.”
