Launched in March 1959, Barbie has been an important part of the collectable doll market for over 50 years. Mattel, the manufacturer of this iconic doll, has estimated that there are well over 100,000 avid Barbie collectors worldwide! In recent years, a wide range of Barbie dolls designed for collectors have been produced, including a series by Royal Doulton. For 2013, two new Barbie figures have been added to the range.
