Charles Noke, by the 1930’s was the leader of pottery production in England and having established other lines his attention moved to other forms of pottery decoration. One such introduction from 1930 were Doulton’s Limited Edition Jugs and Loving-Cups.
These limited editions served to commemorate legendary heroes, national and folk lore heroes. In 1933 two further commemoratives celebrating the literary greats Wordsworth and Dickens were introduced. Both pieces were unlimited editions, but due to their rarity today they must have been made in much smaller numbers than the other jugs.
